About Kosdes

Where does the name “Kosdes” come from?
Kosdes is inspired by two Greek words: κόσμος (kósmos), “world,” and δεσμός (desmós), “connection” or “bond.” Together they suggest a simple connection between you and the world of Modern Greek.
- κόσμος kósmos world
- δεσμός desmós connection / bond
Is this Modern Greek?
Yes. Kosdes teaches the Greek used in Greece today — not Ancient Greek. Spellings, sounds, and meanings follow everyday speech.
How should I use a vocabulary list?
Read the Greek first, then the pronunciation line, then the English. On the full list page, play the audio and follow along word by word.
What does the pronunciation line mean?
It is a simple Latin-letter guide to how the word sounds. Stress is marked so you can hear which syllable is stronger.
Is there audio?
The full greetings list includes a pronunciation clip. Play it on that page and read the cards as you listen.
Are there videos?
Yes. A short clip sits with the greetings list. You can also follow and watch these videos on TikTok.
Can I print a list?
Yes. Each full list has a “Print this list” link under the audio player. It opens a clean black-and-white sheet.
What is the alphabet page for?
It shows all 24 letters: capital, small, name, how it sounds, and the Latin transliteration. Use it when a word’s letters are still new.
How do I get in touch?
You can email Sean at kosdes16@outlook.com with questions about the lists or the site.
